General Motors and Isuzu have made announcements regarding the futures of their respective operations in South Africa.
With this announcement:
-Isuzu intends purchasing GM’s South African light commercial vehicle manufacturing operations and strengthening its presence in the market. Isuzu will continue to manufacture the Isuzu KB and Isuzu Trucks.
-GM intends to cease local manufacturing and selling Chevrolet vehicles in the domestic market by the end of 2017 subject to local regulatory requirements.
-Following the recent announcement of the sale of Opel to the PSA group, GM will work with PSA to develop the future strategy for the Opel brand in South Africa.
-With its proud heritage, Isuzu will deepen its presence in the country with the establishing of Isuzu Motors South Africa.
-As Isuzu grows its business in Africa for the long term, South Africa will serve as an important base.
If you are an Isuzu, Chevrolet or Opel owner on‐going aftersales and parts support will continue through the existing GM dealer network through to the end of 2017. All existing warranties and service plans remain in place and will be honoured for the applicable period.
From 2018 Isuzu dealers will continue to provide aftersales and service support to Chevrolet and Opel customers subject to finalisation of our discussions with PSA.
GM is working to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible. Customer support centre resources will be significantly increased during the transition period
All customers can call 0800 422 777 or +27 41 403 2555 (for outside of South Africa) or visit www.gmsouthafrica.co.za for more details.
